My name is Thorn, I'm 26 years old currently living in Michigan. I'm looking to move to the Netherlands as soon as I can, for multiple reasons. the past 7 years I've spent fighting health issues, mainly heart disease and seizures, facing my possible 5th surgery this year soon. my Healthcare in the US has failed me many times, and it doesn't look too good for the future. I've already had to decline treatment for some of my issues because I can't afford it and they're not covered here. on top of this, despite working 4 jobs, I've been homeless near 30 times since just 2019 alone, even living out of tents and eating from dumpsters. at the current rate I likely will be again in the future if I stay here. I've tried everything to make things work, but I've had to come to face that leaving the US is my best option if I want a future that's not me slowly dying on the street. That, and someone I care for very dearly lives where I'm planning on moving, and I already have a lot of the details worked out just not the finances yet. I'm not expecting to get 20k here, that is simply my goal and I've already been saving as much as I can. I created this gofund me at the request of some mutuals of mine, as it's not easy for me to ask for help.
