My name is Kelcy. I am the middle of three kids and the only girl. I grew up as what some may call "Biker Trash". I take a lot of pride in that. I grew up around a lot of bikers who quickly became like additional fathers to me. I learned the importance of family through many of them. Along with how to work on a Harley, my pickup trucks and how to whoop a$$ if and when necessary. :) My Dad is my best friend, partner in crime and one of the best men I know (he would argue that last one for sure..lol). My Mom is one of the strongest women I know and has endured many hardships in her life. My younger brother is definitely one I am proud of. He made the choice to join the US Air Force and has been in the service for almost 4 years now with plans of re-enlisting.
On March 1, 2021 my parents house caught on fire. This couldn't be the worse timing. 8 busted pipes had just been repaired after the Texas snow storm. If it's not one thing it's another as my Dad typically says. Everything is a loss for them, including clothing. Turns out the house tested positive for asbestos and now 98% of their belongings will need to be trashed. I decided to start this GoFund Me (with a lot of prideful hesitance) in hopes of getting them closer to a travel trailer until they can get a more permanent living situation put together. Unfortunately Insurance is estimating a minimum of 6 months before anything is done and they are currently displaced. My Dad has been sleeping in his truck on the property to ensure random folks don't come in trying to take what they can get and my Mom has been staying in a hotel that is not very handicap friendly. Funds are running low for hotel costs.
*Left to Right: Youngest son (USAF), Mom, oldest son, the three grandkids (smallest one is mine), Dad, Me
My Dad is a Vietnam Veteran who has worked his tail off every day since he was 12 up until a motorcycle wreck in 2003 that made working as an Electrician near impossible. My Mom had a major stroke in 1993 at the age of 38, six months after giving birth to my younger brother. Both of my parents are now disabled and rely heavily on Social Security, which unfortunately is not as good as it could be. It also limits their ability to be approved for most loans since many financial institutions see it as an unstable income.
My parents have always strived to ensure us kids were taken care of. We didn't grow up with money, but we were always fed, clothed, sheltered and well loved. I often think back and wonder how in the hell did they manage to keep us afloat so well on such little income. At this point though it is starting to feel like they can never catch a break. I NEED them to have a win.. at least once. I am doing everything I can without jeopardizing myself or my family, but I am limited on what I can do so here I am creating a GoFund Me in hopes that they can get that win. I have exhausted all other options with no luck. Anything donated goes towards a travel trailer primarily and the rest will go towards clothes and food to keep them comfortable. Every penny would help in this moment and is greatly appreciated.
*These are just some pictures of the damages.
