Michelle and Josh are a one of a kind couple, the minute you are around them you see that they don't only have so much love for each other but also their girls. Their story is one that pulls on heartstrings as it's hard to understand how just heartbreaking things can happen to such amazing people.
Febuary they find out the amazing news they are pregnant, both of them along with family and friends are filled with so much joy. April comes along and the news gets even better, they are having twins! They did a gender reveal party on May 7th to find out they were going to be blessed with 2 boys.
After having an extremely healthy pregnancy (minus the morning/all day sickness) Michelle goes in for a regular check up and at 20 weeks along they get the news that her boys have Twin-Twin transfusion syndrome. This is a rare, serious condition that can occur in pregnancies when twins share a placenta.
Receiving a diagnosis of twin-twin transfusion syndrome is an emotional experience, and in some cases decisions about treatment must be made quickly. This is exactly what Michelle and Josh had to do. They were flown to the Childrens Hopsital in Denver within a day having to make the decision to move forward with a surgery that would increase the chances of both babies being healthy. After a short stay in Denver they were able to go back home to Yale, SD with the plan being they would need to travel 2 hours to Sioux Falls weekly for check-ups. Those check-ups were going well as the babies were looking good, then all of the sudden at their 25 week check-up they found out baby B, Hunter Dean, was not doing well and they again were flown to the Children's Hospital in Denver in hopes to have another surgery that would help. But overnight Hunter's levels and heart rate were dropping so the surgery was no longer an option. The morning of July 9th these two amazing parents watched the heartbeat of their baby boy Hunter Dean gradually come to a stop. Heartbroken Michelle and Josh not only have to grieve the loss of one of their sweet baby boys, they have to do it so far away from family and friends. They will be sent back to Sioux Falls where Michelle will need to have follow up appointments numerous times a week until she delivers, which Dr's are hoping it's still another 10 weeks.
Through this extremely emotions and heartbreaking time in their life they have had to spend extended time away from work, along with massive medical costs in hopes to have healthy babies. This is a couple who would never ask for help as they are both so strong and are never looking for a handout, but they deserve the help. If you find it in your heart to be able to help, even a little bit they would be beyond grateful.
