Elijah’s Road To Recovery

Hi everyone.

Some of you know this already but my eldest son, Elijah, was in a serious accident on Thurs, Sept 14, 2023 on his way home from work when he hit uneven ground and lost control of his electric scooter. The high impact of his body on the pavement resulted in a complete fracture of his left femur. The fact that he was wearing a full face shield motorcycle helmet probably saved his life.

The surgery to repair his leg was completed the following afternoon. He now has a 1.5 Ft titanium rod that runs the length of his femur, stabilized with 4 screws. Although the surgery went smoothly, Elijah won’t be able to work for at least 3-6 months during his initial rehabilitation.

I’m helping to raise funds to alleviate any financial stress and worry so that Elijah can focus on his healing. To know that he can recover in his own apartment is comforting to him.

An update: Sun, Sept 24 - Elijah spiked a fever on Wednesday last week so he was admitted to the hospital for some tests to determine what was causing his fever. It turns out he has a 10cm long blood clot in one of his veins in his lower leg. He is also anemic and his hemoglobin count is low. He has been on IV iron therapy and IV blood thinner since the diagnosis. We aren’t sure when he’ll be cleared to leave just yet.
