Xander Vega’s Cancer Journey Fund

This gofundme account has been created to help support James Vega and Suzy Aispuro as they have just discovered the devastating news of their 4-Year old son, Alexander Vega being diagnosed with cancer. It has been an emotional roller coaster for this family as their world has came crashing down in the matter of seconds. This fundraiser will help them with their cancer journey for their son. Here is Alexander’s story:

Hi, my name is Alexander Vega, but everyone calls me “Xander”. On August 7th, 2020 my family and I went to California for my great grandmothers memorial service. While there with all my family, I was outside playing with my cousins jumping on the trampoline. I accidentally tripped and hurt my leg. I woke up the next morning and I was limping because my leg was still hurting. I couldn't really walk on my own. On August 11th, 2020 after we came back home to Phoenix, AZ, my mom took me to my doctors for a check up and to see what was going on with my leg. My doctor ordered X-rays for my leg. He also ordered some blood work because he felt something was off. Later that day, my doctor called my parents to rush me to Phoenix Children’s Hospital. My platelids and white blood cell count was way to low. After arriving to the hospital, I was swabbed for covid, I was poked again with a needle for more blood work. After hours of waiting my results finally came back. I was diagnosed with B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). On August 12, 2020, I had my first blood and plate lid transfusion which I had an allergic reaction to. I got very swollen. I was already scheduled for a few surgeries, so those were pushed back. We had to redo it again the next morning,  but not before given benadryl. On August 13, 2020, I had 3 surgeries, a Bone Marrow Biopsy, a Lumbar Puncture, which is a spinal tab to test the fluid in my spine and I also had a port placed in my chest. (where I will be given medication, do blood work and recieve my chemo). Oh, and I also had my first chemo treatment that night as well. Tomorrow, August 16, 2020, I will be getting PEG medication (Asparaginase), another blood transfusion, and another COVID swab test. If everything goes well I will get to go home to continue my treatment with my loved ones. What started as a leg pain ended up changing my life and the ones around me. I thank you all for the love and support. I promise I will give it my all and I will fight like I never have before. Have faith and be strong like I am and we will get through this. God bless you all.
