On the 29th March 11 month old Oliver Lancaster was diagnosed with intermediate risk Neuroblastoma, a rare form of cancer. We are glad to report that early scans after a couple of rounds of chemotherapy have gone well and are working as best we can hope and Oliver is still smiling through everything that has been thrown at him so far. We have set up this page to raise funds for the family of Oliver to help them through this difficult time in their lives dealing with the extra costs of regular trips to the RVI for treatment, the added costs of staying in Newcastle whilst treatment is carried out and reduced availability to work due to becoming Oliver’s full time carers. It will be split with three great charities that help in the fight against childhood cancer. These are Children’s Cancer North who help fund Ward 4 and 14 which are the children’s cancer wards at the RVI, Young Lives vs Cancer and Neuroblastoma UK. These charities have all helped Oliver and his family and the family want to give something back to them so they can continue their great work.
A group of us calling ourselves Team Oliver plan to do a non stop walk from Castle Chocolates in Carlisle where Oliver’s dad works to the RVI in Newcastle where Oliver is currently receiving treatment. This is a 63 mile journey that we estimate will take between 28 and 36 hour to complete.
There is also a half distance option for anyone wanted to take part but not wanting to walk through the night.
