My beloved Sister Rose this is our journey :
A ER visit turns out to be a 3 month journey for my dear sister Rosemarie. Receiving a call saying they needed to do an emergency surgery because she was septic and also had a Duodenal Ulcer that irrupted in her stomach where it was hard to get too and turned out to be an Exploratory Surgery at Hemet Valley Hospital. The goal was to patch the hole in her stomach (the size of a half dollar). Once it was done, the doctors said it was a challenge but he was optimistic. She was then placed on a life support ventilator. After two weeks she got off, but we then received a call that they found a leakage where the hole was patched and it was causing her more of an infection. Once again, we decided for a second surgery to correct this and the doctors were hopeful, but then bad news came and the second surgery was unsuccessful. They were unable to repair the hole because of the inflammation in the area. At this point the surgeon said we would need to let “nature take its course” for her to recover.
At this point she was still not allowed to eat or drink anything only ice chips. They now used a PICC line in her neck, nasal suction tube and many antibiotics. We then had her transferred to Kindred Hospital in Rancho Cucamonga for one on one care where wound care was still needed on her stomach because it was not healing from the inside out and an open wound on her lower back that was going to bone. She was still up against a lot. My sister was very strong but tired, losing her hair from not getting her nutrients and only getting it from a PICC IV. Many months of suffering but she still wanted to live and get through this. She stayed at Kindred for a month and then got transferred to Redlands Madison Nursing Care where they were able to accommodate her. The staff there were amazing and wonderful to her. We were always trying to get her closer to home but because of the special needs she had, there were no nursing homes that could accommodate her.
The day our mother passed away RIP (09.05.2023) the next day is when my sister Rose went back to the ER at Redlands Community Hospital, it was due to abdominal pains again and she was then placed back on a ventilator in ICU. Three months of not being able to eat or drink anything, on anabiotic’s and ventilators and 2 unsuccessful surgeries, all my sister wanted was to get well and go home.
Once she was out of ICU, her doctor then decided hospice. She was transferred back to the nursing home where we waited for her to finish the antibiotics to place her on Hospice, but on October 11th she took her last breath at Madison Nursing Home.
HOPE is all she wanted and what I wanted for my big sister. A loving person, an aunt, a friend, a daughter, a mother, a fighter and a person who was hopeful in life. So many obstacles she had overcame but this one got her.
I’m asking if anyone can donate towards her funeral expenses as this has been a hardship for me. Money will be going towards her cremation church services, burial and burial blessings.
Thank you, and may god keep blessing you!
