I’m Sid, Terra’s daughter. My mom has been struggling with some ongoing medical issues since last November/December. On May 8th, she was admitted to the hospital, where they found an infection in her intestine that has been causing her immense pain.
On Thursday, May 15th, they performed surgery to clean out the infection and to remove an abscess that had formed. She is currently doing better and is in the hospital until they decide if she can return home or if she will need a second surgery.
She has been off work and is expected to have a long recovery process, with many follow-up appointments and potential for a second surgery.
My mom is worried about not being able to stay afloat financially during the next few months. Paid leave in Oregon will be very helpful, but it only pays 60% of her salary and takes time to receive the money, leaving us without enough money to make ends meet. Additionally, her insurance will likely not cover everything, and she may need to stay in an assisted nursing facility or hotel near the hospital in Tualitin for a few weeks before they determine if she needs a second surgery, adding thousands in expenses for the next few months.
I’m hoping to take some stress off her shoulders, so she can focus on getting better. My mom is an amazing person who supports her family and friends in every way and deserves to finally start feeling better after so long. Any help that anyone feels they can afford would be appreciated. Thank you so much for your support.
Sid :)
