Hi! I’m Ashley, Ralph’s little sister, and Ralph needs our help.
Ralph had a stroke, which resulted in a hospital visit revealing a brain tumor and abscess.
He had surgery removing the tumor and is recovering—but he will have a long recovery, which includes but isn’t limited to the following:
- Speech Therapy
- Physical Therapy
- Additional tests (prostate/colon-related, as the doctors believe there is related pathology and contributing factor to the stroke)
- General daily living needs (wet wipes, etc.)
While the surgery was successful, Ralph has lost use of his left arm, and he will wear a helmet to protect his head, as he’s now missing a piece of his skull from the surgery. We are waiting for results from the abscess and tumor culture and will provide those updates as we have them.
My other brother Joey (Jose Paniagua) has power of attorney, followed by my other other brother Omar (Omar Soto). All donations will go to Joey, who will use these funds to cover Ralph’s needs, as Ralph is also without health insurance and doesn’t currently qualify for various social services.
We don’t know how much longer he’ll be in the ICU, but we know that they are considering either discharging him home or referring him to a treatment facility.
Once we know where he’ll be long-term during his recovery, I’ll also create an Amazon wishlist so that you can get physical items delivered directly to him and save us a logistical step while also getting him the things he needs as quickly as possible.
Thank you for caring for Ralph and his health. To know him is to write down a funny thing he said and laugh about it later. He still has his humor, as he apologizes that the doctors didn’t take out the talking part of his brain. Luckily, that means we have more time to write down more funny Ralph-isms.
