Paxton Brake's fight against cancer

Paxton went for his 1 year well child visit on June 11, 2014. The doctor told us that he  was a perfectly healthy one year old. We thought Paxton was lactose intolerant but the doctor thought he may just be sensitive to too much protein in whole milk and would do a CBC. That night we received a phone call from the on call pediatrician at the hospital asking us to bring Paxton in right away that there was a problem with his blood work. Paxton had shown no signs or symptoms of being sick in any way. Once we arrived at the hospital Paxton was admitted and more blood work was done. The next morning on June 12, 2014 Paxton was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) just 2 days after his first birthday. That day he also received the first of many transfusions.

On June 17th he received his first port.

On June 26th he had his first ambulance ride being transferred to another hospital to check for a blood clot because his arm would keep turning purple.

On July 2nd Paxton had his first port removed due to an infection in his blood from the port site. We celebrated the 4th of July watching the fireworks in the parking lot of the hospital with family and other children from the floor.

On July 7th he revived his second port.

On July 11th Paxton got to go home after spending the entire first month (31days) of treatment in the hospital.

On July 18th Paxton started his treatments at the infusion center

On November 14th Paxton received his first chemo treatment without us because we were upstairs preparing for my c-section. Paxton was finished with chemo in time to go upstairs to meet his new baby brother.

On February 11th Paxton started his maintenance phase and is set to finish all treatments in August 14th 2017

With everything Paxton has been through with the leukemia attacking his little body to all the strong chemo treatments he has never let it get the best of him. He still goes non stop from the time he gets up until it's time for bed, He is a fighter and a huge inspiration to many around him! To him his treatments are just another day, he doesn't know any different but to think this is normal! Paxton is our little hero!

Paxton is now 2, has an older brother Peyton (7) and younger brother Miles (1) who live with him, his mommy and daddy.

Paxton also has an older brother Matthew (19) and an older sister Morgan (17) who live with their mom.

Recently Paxton, his mom, dad and 2 brothers have been staying with his grandparents while work is being done on his house. There was a water leak in the bathroom near Paxton's bedroom and caused major water damage. While cleaning out the walls and floors that were damaged mold was found in some of the walls connecting the bathroom and Paxton's bedroom needing them to be completely gutted and replaced.

While staying with Paxton's grandparents there was a house fire. While it was contained to just one end of the house all of the families belongings including all of Paxton's and his 2 brothers clothes, toys and more were ruined from heavy smoke damage.
