Both spouses fighting cancer

There are those people you meet in life that instantly touch your heart. The ones with the best attitude and strength of character. An example of this would be Mike, Julie and their son, Hayden. The past year has been a testament to their strength, perseverance and has reaffirmed their faith in God. Julie was diagnosed with stage three colon cancer a year ago and is fighting for her life with the rigorous treatments it entails. To date, Julie is halfway through her chemo and a few months away from her final surgery. Just a few short weeks ago, Mike went in for a routine “well” check and it was discovered that he has an aggressive (Gleason score of 9) form of prostate cancer. The good news; it has not spread to other areas.
This has been incredibly difficult, financially, for the Carver’s. Two years ago, Mike moved his family to take a job with a small biotech company in Las Vegas and after just over a year there, was laid off. Mike secured another job in Salt Lake City, however the insurance did not offer Julie’s treatment at the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Utah where she has been since her diagnosis. Mike and Julie made a difficult decision keep their insurance with COBRA. This came with a very high monthly price tag, but the best option to save her life. Fast forward to today, the Carvers need additional help to offset some expenses. Anything you can give, even if it seems like an insignificant amount, will help take some financial stress off of an already stressful situation. We have set a goal of $5000. With the power of friends, family, and many people who have been lucky enough to have crossed paths with Mike, Julie, and Hayden, that goal can be achieved and surpassed quickly.
As we approach Thanksgiving, many of us are expressing gratitude for the blessings we have in our lives, including our health. Please find it in your heart to help this incredible family. They would be forever grateful with whatever you are able to offer them to make this fight a little easier.
