Help Save Boots' Third Leg!

HELP NEEDED URGENTLY!

A single mom and her injured three-legged dog need your help to save the third leg!

Hi! My name is Katie and I am asking for help for my friend, Sara Crow, and her dog, Boots. Sara's beautiful family consists of herself, her amazing two year-old son, and a sweet Border Collie, Tillie Stole-My-Heart Boots. (She goes by Boots for short).

So, here's the thing. Boots only has three legs, and she recently sustained a severe injury to her only right leg. Frightened by days on end of fireworks and gun shots (oh, how we love everything but this about you, Albuquerque's South Valley), Boots and the neighbor dog accidentally got into a tangle. The other dog is huge and much stronger, and Boots ended up with a badly hurt leg. Her elbow joint is broken, the bone that bears weight was ripped out of its socket and the ligaments that hold it were ripped. Her ulna is broken and needs a pin. Since the more serious injury is to the joint, without the pin and some complex surgey, the vet says she will never be able to bear weight on that leg again. Without this help, she will not walk.

Boots is only between 8 and 10 years old, and is a smaller-sized lady, so she has every reason to have many good years ahead of her. She is quite the avid outdoorswoman and has hiked Santa Fe Baldy in her day! Sara is a single, hard-working mom, and the surgery is $4000. She has managed to cobble together some credit options to cover $1500, but $2500 remains. She needs this money by Monday, 7/13/15. I would love it if we could raise the whole $4000 so she doesn't need to go into further debt.

Boots is no ordinary dog. She has a soft, kind nature that you see immediately upon meeting her. She's sharp as a tack, brave, and has a true zest for life. She's a friend to cats, other dogs, children, babies, chickens, and any other people lucky enough to make her acquaintance. I've known her all the years Sara has had her, and count her as a dear friend. Even if I don't see Boots for a year, she always remembers me and comes bounding up to me, wiggling and smiling.

Y'all, Sara is the very spirit of generosity and tenacity. She's shared her home, food, hard work, creativity, and many other things with the people in her life, and she never holds back when people need something, even if she herself has very little to spare. She worked incredibly hard to put herself through nursing school before her baby was born, and persevered, even though the going got really tough. During that time, the first thing she did with whatever little money she had was buy food for Boots so she'd never go hungry.

Some people have parents or grandparents who can help when things get hard financially. Others of us, like Sara, do not, and need our chosen family and others in our community to rally around us and combine resources when we have a tough time. Sara is a proud person, the kind of woman who busts her ass to provide for her own damn self, and her son. She does not like to ask for help if she doesn't have to. So, I am asking. This woman and her family are my family. Boots and her son are her heart, and they need a helping hand. So, can you help Sara save Boots' leg? Even a little can add up to a lot if we all join in.

Please spread the word, and thank you so much from the bottom of my heart!
