Help for Luna

Donation protected
Remember our former rescue dog, Luna? In 2015, we pulled her from BARC, got her fully vetted (she was heartworm positive) and then found her a wonderful new forever family.

Today (Monday 4/16/18), I received a call from her mom, Karen. Unfortunately, Luna is not doing well health-wise. A few days ago she experienced sudden paralysis of the hind legs, possibly due to a slipped disc. There are other issues as a result of the paralysis, along with a really bad bladder infection. We will know more after she has seen the nearest neurologist, located 3.5 hours away from her.  Luna and her family now live in Pagosa Springs, CO.

Luna's loving parents are retirees. They could use any help that we can offer in regards to Luna's unexpected (and rising) medical bills. They are willing to do whatever it takes to help Luna.

After some persuasion, Karen has given me permission to try to raise money to go towards the costs. She is also investigating Care Credit and any other means of help with medical bills that exists. Please feel free to share any info you may have in that regard. I have also asked that once there is a plan set for Luna's treatment(s), that Karen ask the vet/specialist if they will accept direct donations over the phone. If that is possible, I will update here so that people can have that option to donate as well.

I have made the decision to set the goal amount to $5,000. I know from experience that it is possible that Luna's bills will be much more. If somehow they end up being less, I will lower the goal amount. I have not asked Karen how much the bills have added up to so far, however I can tell she is understandably concerned about the costs.  Again, Luna's family is willing to do whatever it takes to help Luna. Karen is quite distraught over Luna's condition and is understandably emotional when we speak on the phone. Once Karen has a prognosis and treatment plan (hopefully today), I will ask her about the bill totals and estimates.

PLEASE donate if you are able to. ANY amount is appreciated. Please keep little Luna in your thoughts. We all are hoping for the best prognosis for this sweet little girl.

UPDATE (Wed. 4/18): Luna is making the 3.5 hour trip to the neurologist today. Once we have a diagnosis and treatment plan, I will update again. For now, I am hearing things like Neurologist, MRI, possible surgery, possible Urologist, etc. All this in addition to the care she has already had during her stay at her main vet's office the past few days. Luna has been on meds for the bladder infection, including anti-inflammatories for her back. She left the hospital last night in order to make the trip this morning.  Hoping for the best possible outcome. Poor Luna.
