Greetings my name is Le’Undra Lee, and I am a proud doctoral student at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU). I am reaching out with both humility and hope. I’ve dedicated years of hard work to my studies and my community, and I am now just one step away from completing my doctoral degree. But two urgent financial barriers are standing in my way.

The Challenges:

1. Tuition Balance for Dissertation Defense

On the very day I was scheduled to defend my dissertation, I was informed that I could not proceed because of a tuition balance of $5,171.04. This balance must be cleared before I can defend and graduate from FAMU. Completing my dissertation is not only a personal dream but also a way to give back—I’ve centered my research on improving access to higher education for students with disabilities.

2. Critical Van Repairs for Accessibility & Health

I rely on my 2018 handicap-accessible Toyota Sienna van for all of my medical appointments, physical therapy, and daily needs. The AC compressor and related parts have failed, and the repair estimate is $2,887. Without air conditioning, my health is at serious risk due to my medical condition and the medications I take. This van is more than transportation—it’s my independence and lifeline. I have also emailed the owner of Tallahassee Toyota where I reside to assist with this matter as well.

Why This Matters:

Both of these needs are urgent and essential:

• Paying my tuition balance will allow me to defend my dissertation and graduate with my doctoral degree from FAMU.

• Repairing my van will ensure I can safely attend my medical appointments and maintain my independence.
