Scottie's Surgery

Donazione protetta
Four days ago a puppy showed up on our porch hungry as we were leaving the house. I felt compelled to help this puppy that we named Scottie and said, Lord, if it is your will to help this dog, keep him there and I will feed him. He was there when we got back so I instantly went it, fed him some cubes of brisket and water. I searched the Next Door app for his owners and only found others posting about seeing him closer to our local Walmart so I posted also looking for his owner so they could pick him up. He would not let us get near him at all. We fed him and sheltered him the best we could hoping to gain enough trust to some how get him to the vet. Two days ago Scottie left during the day and didn't return. Yesterday a neighbor posted that they had an injured puppy on their porch and posted a picture of her next to a sad looking Scottie. I told her to take him to the vet since he let her get near him and we would take over at the vet. He left her porch and later wound up in the make shift dog house we left out for him that night. We took him to the vet as soon as I got off of work yesterday. They asked me if I assumed all charges and I said yes. My wife and I feel bad for this puppy and want him taken care of. They x-rayed him and told us that he had both femurs broken and sadly told me that if we wanted to get him taken care of, it was going to be very expensive surgery to fix him up, and I would have to take him to a Hospital like Blue Pearl. The vet said that with him being a stray they weren't sure what we wanted to do. I said we feel called to help him so we are going to get him fixed and that was the only reason we took him there. She  she was very happy to hear that because she said he is a sweet puppy and will be a great family pet when he is recovered. He is in a lot of pain and didn't bite, show teeth or anything. They would hurt him trying to check him out and Scottie would just lick. Everyone I reached out to either did not have an opening to see Scottie, or did not have the capabilities to perform the kind of surgery he needed. Everyone was sweet and gave me several other places to call. With Scottie being in so much pain and not knowing what to do, I finally got a hold of the Veterinarian Hospital originally recommended. After a few conversations with them to get Scottie's X-rays transferred, their surgeon said that Scottie did indeed need the surgery, and could stand to wait till he was back in the office on Monday. They gave me all the necessary instructions for proper care of Scottie, and I already had all the medication he needed till Monday so he is all set for his Monday surgery to get back to being a healthy dog again.  My wife bathed him as I assisted and held a heating fan toward him. He loved his wash rag bath and scrubbing. He wagged his tail for the first time that we had seen. He ate his dog food and medicine from my wife's hand. Scottie is dried up and sleeping curled up in a few towels. Scottie will be alright. I have a security camera on him to make sure we see and hear that he is okay so we don't disturb his rest. The total cost of the surgery is estimated at   $5,000 that is why we are starting a Go Fund Me page for Scottie. This hast brought out so much emotion out of me. I was not a big dog person, and $5,000 is a lot of money for us so the help is GREATLY appreciated and we see it as a true blessing we did not except when we stepped forward to help this little guy. The vet said he is only 8 months old. This surgery will let him live and be a puppy a little longer, and your help is giving us some more wind behind our wings so thank you from the bottom of our hearts. With love, Eddie, Adrienne, and Scottie Cuellar
