Meet Ally, my wife of 16 years who has always been the strong one. She's kept our family safe and together through every up and down; government shutdowns (yes, we are the lucky people who have to report to work without pay during shutdowns), my own health issues, and everything else the world throws at us. She's balanced our family, our bills, our two children, and everything else while working full-time.
Ally is a lifetime Girl Scout, a troop leader, a lover of animals, and the magical outdoors. She probably has the biggest heart of anyone you'll ever meet. Her love and compassion for the world know no bounds.
After experiencing headaches and unexplained weight loss, in April of 2020, Ally was diagnosed with two benign (they hope) pituitary tumors in her head. We've been working with medication to shrink them; however, the medication is very hard on her body. One side effect of this medication caused Ally to be diagnosed with severe iron deficiency anemia in November. This requires periodic infusions of iron that cost $520 per treatment, out of pocket, after insurance. We are also paying $40 per specialist (x3 specialists) for copays each month.
Our biggest financial hurdle is going to be her surgery in January to correct the anemia. This will be a 3 hour operation with two surgeons and a 3-4 day stay in the hospital. She's been told to expect 6 weeks of recovery time away from work.
We hate to ask anyone for money. We've always tried to make our own way and make things work when things were thick and thin. We know everyone is in a hard spot these days but Friends, we really need your help now. Anything you can contribute would be appreciated.
Love The Schmidt Family
