Support Mari's Brain Surgery Recovery

Donation protected
Hi everyone, our names are Martha and Veli. We are organizing this fundraiser for our sister, Mari—a loving wife, a devoted mother to two wonderful children, a loving bonus mom to a third, and one of the strongest women we know.

The Journey So Far
For the past five years, Mari has been suffering from strange, unexplained health episodes. Despite seeking help, she was misdiagnosed time and time again, leaving our family with more questions than answers. Finally, on November 10th, we received the news that changed everything: Mari was diagnosed with a Diffused Glioma—a brain tumor.

The Surgery
After years of uncertainty, things are moving very fast. Mari is scheduled to be admitted to the hospital on December 11th, with major brain surgery taking place on December 12th.

While we remain hopeful and the doctors are optimistic, this is a highly sensitive and invasive procedure. Because the tumor is "diffused" (spread out), there is a high probability that surgeons will need to remove some healthy brain tissue along with the tumor to prevent it from growing back. While we expect her to be in the hospital for 1 to 5 days, her road to a full recovery at home will take much longer.

How You Can Help
Mari needs to focus entirely on healing and getting back to her children, not on the stress of finances. We have set a goal of $26,000 to support her family during this critical time.

Here is how these funds will be used to support Mari’s recovery:

  • Medical Expenses: Covering high deductibles, co-pays, and out-of-pocket costs for the surgery and subsequent biopsy/testing.
  • Lost Wages & Living Expenses: Mari will be out of work for an extended period to recover. These funds will help keep the lights on and the fridge full while she cannot work.
  • Childcare & Household Support: With Mari recovering and her husband caring for her, they will need assistance with their children and maintaining the household.
  • Recovery Aids: Medications, transportation to follow-up appointments, and any physical therapy required post-surgery.

Please Share and Donate
If you are unable to donate at this time, please consider sharing this link with your network. We are so grateful for the love and support shown so far. As Mari prepares for this battle, knowing she has a village behind her means the world to us.

We will be posting updates here and on Caring Bridge regarding her surgery and recovery progress.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.

With love, Martha & Veli
