People always say "tomorrow is not promised", and that has really hit home for me and my husband, Richard.
Richard is a smart, caring, funny and fun loving young man that has been a blessing for those around him. Richard was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer a year ago. This was a devastating shock for him and his family. Before Richard was diagnosed he told me "life is so good right now, it's too good to be true." He had just started his career at a CPA firm, going in to his junior year at Sonoma State University, proposed to the love of his life, and welcomed his twin brother home after 5 years in the U.S Marines. We thought life would go back to normal in 6 months, but we were wrong. Richards first treatment was hard! The doctors said they were giving him aggressive treatment because his cancer was curable. Unfortunately after 6-7 months of chemo, radiation, surgeries, and countless nights and days in the hospital, Richards cancer was not only still there but it spread. My husband and I and our family were devastated. Richard decided to continue treatment and attack the cancer again, so he started another chemo, more radiation, and more surgeries. Then we recently received the most gut wrenching news any of us could imagine. He went through all of this and NONE of it was effective. Barring a miracle cure from a clinical trial, the doctor told Richard he has “months” to live. As you can understand, our family is still reeling and trying to come to terms with this news. Richard is truly a good and loving person who has been dealt an unfair hand. Although no one can really tell you how long anyone has to live, Richard has requested to spend as much time with his loved ones as possible and to do things he has always wanted to do because now tomorrow truly is a gift!
We will continue to stay hopeful and positive but also grasp our time with Richard now.
We will appreciate anyone who can donate anything to Richard to make his dreams come true. Your donation will help me and his family take time off work to spend with him and most importantly give Richard opportunities to enjoy his life as he should!
Richard started chemo the week of our wedding and we were not able to have a honeymoon. We saved all our wedding money and tax return to purchase a cruise to Alaska to celebrate our one year anniversary and we were hoping to celebrate Richard being cancer free. We are still planning to go to Alaska and create unforgettable memories. Richard wants to be able to continue creating unforgettable memories with all his loved ones!
Please if you can donate to help Richard, ANY LITTLE BIT WOULD HELP, and if you cannot donate we ask that you please share.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Xoxo
