Housing for Sexually-exploited Women in Recovery

Hi, I’m Jenny Gaines and I am seeking your support as we raise money to secure housing for exploited women in recovery as part of a sustainable ministry. I stand before you, not only as a survivor of sex trafficking but as a living testament to the transformative power of faith and the unwavering strength I found in Jesus. It is through His grace that I was able to break free from the chains that bound me, and it is with His guidance that I was driven to establish a non-profit as a refuge for other women seeking a way out. Currently, we’re supporting 20 women and there are so many more seeking help.

For 28 years, I endured unimaginable suffering and despair. The path that led me into the clutches of sex trafficking was not one I ever imagined for myself. Coming from a good family and going to great schools, I seemed shielded from such horrible things. However, at the vulnerable age of 14, my world was shattered by my parents' divorce. Blaming my mother, I became a rebellious teenager and ran away.

In the midst of my vulnerability, I was targeted as a young run-away and was lured into the darkness of sex trafficking. The traffickers exploited my pain, promising love and acceptance. Soon, I found myself trapped in a web of manipulation, violence, and unspeakable abuse. I witnessed the erosion of my self-worth, and fell into addiction.

During those horrible years, I lost custody of my children, faced multiple incarcerations, and attempted suicide 5 times. The grip of my trafficker was unrelenting, and I came to believe the lie that I was only valuable as a prostituted woman.

But in the midst of this darkness, Jesus became my refuge. In March 2011, I reached the end of myself and cried out to Him for a different life. Though the change did not happen overnight, His love and presence sustained me. I found encouragement, support and understanding in programs like Breaking Free, where I began the process of healing, deprogramming from the lies, and rediscovering my true worth.

Today, I am devoted to establishing a sustainable refuge for survivors like me. The demand for safe housing and support, surpasses our resources, and I am seeking your financial help to make a lasting impact. Together, we can provide comprehensive support and housing as we empower survivors to break the chains that bind them.
