Hello! My name is Rena. My passion for health and nursing has led me to becoming a registered nurse for almost four years, and I’ll begin medical school in August 2022! As you can imagine, pursuing a career in medicine isn’t easy and can be a financial burden. I am seeking any financial assistance in the form of your kind and generous donations to help make this dream become a reality. I will remain transparent (by providing receipts and screenshots) of all the donations collected via this site. This journey has me moving 2,000 miles away from home, which means there is a need for assistance in paying for tuition, travel, transportation, food, insurance, and any personal expenses that will augment my education. 

 

Brief History: I purposely chose a career in nursing prior to attending medical school as to obtain direct patient care experience, networking with the interdisciplinary team, and have a financial foundation. However, I am quitting my full-time job as a hospital registered nurse in order to move and complete my medical school education.

 

My experience as a registered nurse has humbled me and allowed me to mature as a young adult, navigating the healthcare system. However, I am now ready for the rigor of medical school so I can do more for my patients, not hindered by my scope of practice. With your financial help, I believe this dream can come to fruition.

 

Future Aspirations: I want to obtain as much medical knowledge as possible so I can provide easy-to-understand education to my patients, so they can make their own autonomous decisions regarding their treatment. I want to learn as much as I can regarding our healthcare system so I can help develop ways in which our system can help patients. No longer do I want to see patients having to decide on skipping medications to pay for their rent.

 

Additionally, when I obtain my medical degree, I want to create a site and podcasts in which students can learn about different professions (from the professionals) prior to starting their college careers. I would also interview people who are career-changers (like myself) to help the future generations of future healthcare professionals on deciding what career is suitable for them.
