Ty Hickerson, our beloved friend, father, and husband needs our help to pull together any resources we have to get him home safely. Ty went to Tennessee to participate in a fishing tournament, and sadly things took a turn for the worse. On Sunday, August 16th, Ty had a stroke and was taken to the hospital where they immediately began working to assist his recovery. The doctors started with a stent when he got to the hospital, and at first he did show slight signs of improvement. At this point it seemed as though Ty would recover and be home soon, but sometimes one curve ball unfortuatley just leeds to another. Ty had another stroke in the hospital on August 19th. After this stroke the doctors found bleeding inside of his brain, and so they decided to insurt a drain in hopes of relieving the massive pressure resting on his brain. The doctors informed his family that the chances of this procedure working were slim and for them not to get there hopes up. On August 20th the drain went in, and afterwards he gave us a little hope to grasp on to when he opened his eyes for a few short minutes. A couple of days later, on August 22nd, Ty deveoped a fever high enough to raise concerns of pneumona. On the positive side they did see the brain swelling begin to decline. On August 24th he started vommiting. The next day we did see some positive signs of improvement. Ty gave a thumbs up, and even tried to wave goodbye to his dad. Unfortunately, his blood pressure and pulse skyrocketed; he was really struggling with all of his tubes. He really just wanted to get out and go home. On August 27th they took the drain tube out, and the very next day they were able to put the trach in. On August 29th Ty gave his sweet wife Michelle a kiss, and on the 1st they put his peg (feeding) tube in. On September 2nd he was able to move his right foot for the doctor, but unfortunately started collecting fluid on his lungs. If things go well from here Ty will hopefully be released to a rehab facility soon. Please help bring Ty home. His wife will soon have to return to work we really need to get him home. Coming to a rehab facility at home rather than 6 hours away would mean he could be with his family, and in a place that is so much more familiar and comfortable. We just want Ty to recover and feel better. Anything you can do to help would be appreciated by so many. Help us bring this amazing man back home.
