Cancio ❤️❤️

On August 13th, 2021 our friend, and brother Cancio Picazo-Soto was admitted into Sutter Hospital.

After fighting for over a week he began to struggle to breathe on his own and was taken to the ER. He had multiple infections at the time he was admitted into the ICU. He has been there for three weeks on a ventilator; Isolated without his family and friends by his side, his condition has been up and down. He is stable but his lungs are still fighting infection. The amount of trauma and stress heightened his anxiety very quickly. Over the course of the last few weeks, nurses have tried time and time again to wake him slowly from sedation so his body can fight his infection. With limited options and nothing working he was put on a stronger ventilator bc he was still struggling to stabilize his oxygen levels. Three weeks later with little progress made he is now fighting for his life. His family and loved ones have not been authorized to see him for the entirety of his time in the hospital until recently; weeks after he was first admitted into critical care.

As of now, the doctors and nurses that have worked tirelessly to try and help him get better are out of options. Although, the ventilators are allowing him to get oxygen he can’t fight the infection which has spread throughout his lungs while he is sedated. And without ventilation he is unable to breathe on his own because both sides of his lungs are heavily filled with fluid.

His life now rests in the power of God and we are praying for a miracle. With all of the amazing work we have seen God do in our lives we must continue to have faith that he will give Cancio the strength to regain his own. Where medicine leaves off, God steps in. We are starting this fundraiser to support Cancio’s medical expenses that are to come with his recovery; he has a long journey ahead of him once he’s off the ventilator.

Cancio has been a rock, a brother,a son and a dear friend to our family and many others. For those who know him and have been lucky enough to witness his outrageous daily antics like we have, we hope you join us in supporting his family and ensuring he makes an easy recovery soon. With the countless selfless acts he has performed none of us can imagine a life without his infectious laugh, ridiculous jokes and deeply opinionated personality .
