My name is Kimberley and I’m a mum from North Brisbane trying to build something better for my little girl and for our future.

Becoming a mum changed everything for me. It made me want to create a life where I can be present for her, provide stability and show her that it’s possible to chase your dreams even when the path isn’t easy.

Over the past year, I’ve been working step by step to build my small online boutique, Sorella Sky Collective. I’ve poured every spare moment into planning, budgeting, researching and learning. I’ve done everything I possibly can with what I have because I truly believe in this dream and what it could mean for our future.

I’ve completed Parenting Pathways and successfully finished a detailed business plan, and I am now starting the Self-Employment Assistance (SEA) program this year. This has been a long and very considered process, not a rushed decision.

I’m now at the final stage, but I’ve reached a point where I can’t move forward without a little support. The funds raised will go directly toward the most essential startup needs:

• my first small order of stock

• simple photography equipment to photograph products at home

• packaging and labels

• basic marketing to launch

This isn’t about creating a big business. It’s about taking a small step toward financial independence, stability and building a future where I can support my daughter on my own terms.
