Help Our Family Save Our Home

Hello!

My name is Erin. I am a stay at home Mom to two toddlers and I am asking for help to repair our home. On Thursday October 28th during a vicious wind storm a 40 foot tree in our backyard was blown over onto our house. Fortunately my children and I had gone inside from playing just minutes before and no one was hurt. Our house however received substantial damage to the back wall and roof. The tree also damaged the power line and meter box so my kids and I have been without power ever since.

We purchased our house as a fixer upper and were in the process of making necessary repairs and upgrades to get everything up to code so we could qualify for home owner's insurance. Unfortunately the tree fell before we were able to finish so we have no insurance to help with the repair costs. We have tried our best to mitigate costs and pay for everything ourselves but we are a struggling working class family and have exhausted all our resources.

My husband spent 3 days cutting down as much of the tree as he could himself before it started to get too dangerous as he did not have all the proper equipment. He also left town on the 31st to start a new job driving over the road and won't be back for a few weeks. With all of our savings we were able to hire people to finish cutting down the tree and our wonderful neighbors have pitched in to help us remove all the debris. We have inquired about a small loan to help with hiring an electrician, contractor and roofer but I know the repairs will cost more than we qualify for. The electric alone is looking like it will be upwards of $2100 and we are still waiting on bids for everything else.
