Gabriella is our beautiful 4 year old daughter. She loves swimming, animals, riding her bike, drawing and numbers.
At 3 months of age she begain having seizures.
The seizures became worse, then at 5 months of age she was diganosed with Aicardi syndrome.
Gabriella was on many different epileptic medications and they did very little for her. She was very tired all the time.
Fast forward to a month before her 2 birthday and she had an operation to cut out 5cm of her little brain to stop the seizures and give her a chance in life.
The operation was a SUCCESS!
At age 3 she was diganosed with Autism spectrum disorder.
Gabriella is making great progress and defying the odds. She has a team of speech, physio and occupational therapists helping her to become a future integrated and active member of society.
We are requiring an autism dog for Gabriella for a number of reasons. First and for most though, is Gabriella as she likes to run away. She gets upset and scared at the shops or crowded places. The dog would kèep her safe and calm in these and many other situations. The dog would also be able to 'block' Gabriella and have the ability to track her if she did escape Fort Knox aka our home.
Please note, Autism puppies normally cost between $22,000-$25,000.
We are doing half of the dog training to keep costs down. That way it will bond with Gabriella rather than another family member if it was a puppy. Also at the end it will be a service dog and not a family.
