Melodie, Living With Leukemia

I am Melodie’s sister, Marlisse.  She was diagnosed with Acute Leukemia the day before Thanksgiving. She started chemotherapy immediately but as you can imagine, she cannot stay home alone and is unable to be around crowds of people.  My mother was fired from her job due to the lengthy amount of time that she was out with Melodie’s first hospital stay, 23 days! This situation has left us in a precarious situation.  Although I work my salary is not enough to support a family of 4 – paying the rent, electricity, food, gas, car insurance, etc. The money that is donated will be used to pay rent and electricity.  The owner of the house we are renting is, unfortunately, pressuring us to pay on time and has threatened to take measures if we do not bring the rent up to date. It goes without saying, that this time of year is very difficult for many people, for us it is double the stress.  The importance of keeping a roof over Melodie’s head weighs heavily on my family and I.  It is impossible for me to do this alone with my salary.  At the strong suggestion of Melodie & Patrick’s school family I have started this GoFundMe in the hopes that we may be able to pay the rent for the initial chemotherapy treatments that Melodie needs.  I am humbled by the generosity of spirit that we have experienced so far from the hospital and her physician.  I would be eternally grateful for any generosity that would help during my little sister’s chemotherapy.
