Hi. I am fundraising for Mitch Petersen‘s medical bills resulting from his brain cancer treatments. Mitch is a Nease High School alumnus, University of Florida graduate, and Alpha Tau Omega (ATO) fraternity member. His career as a financial executive included residencies in Charlotte, North Carolina and London, England. He was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), an aggressive type of brain cancer, last year at the age of 40. In the past year, he has had two brain surgeries, radiation therapy, and nine rounds of chemotherapy which is the normal path of care. These treatments are not a cure. In addition to monthly chemotherapy, Mitch is now undergoing an experimental immunotherapy treatment in Germany where a custom vaccine was made to fight against his specific type of brain cancer. This requires traveling to Germany every 4 to 6 weeks. One vaccine injection is given at a time for a total of 14 injections. The treatment and traveling expenses to Germany are not covered by healthcare insurance. The cost will be over $150,000. Due to his standard of care treatment and the vaccine regimen, Mitch is no longer able to work. As you can probably imagine, this has been a challenging diagnosis as well as a difficult time for the Petersen family.

Mitch‘s mom, Wanda Petersen, my business partner and friend for more than 25 years, is one of the most generous and kind-hearted people. She would do anything to help her son survive this disease; asking for help is not in their nature. They are leaning on their faith and their hope in the custom vaccine.
