Hey GoFundMe Family-
On Friday night (September 9th) our 2-month-old, Ashten, came home from daycare and was very lethargic. I decided to place his owlet on his foot to get his Oxygen levels and heart rate. The machine immediately went off as his Oxygen levels were dangerously low. As we were getting him ready to take him to the ER he stopped breathing and the ambulance was called. Ashten was fighting the flu on top of a respiratory virus and his lungs were working so hard that his heart couldn’t keep up. He was taken to the ER where the nurse had to continue to remind his heart to continue beating. Ashten was placed on oxygen, however, he had to be intubated so the machine could breathe for him. For the last few days, Ashten has had to be sedated and have a ventilator breathe for him. We are hoping he will get off the ventilator soon but we have a journey to recovery ahead of us. I will be taking Family Medical Emergency Leave as I will be staying at the hospital and home with Ashten until he is strong enough to handle the everyday germs that this world has to offer. A family should never have to live through this and I am beyond grateful for our amazing nurses, doctors, and therapists at Children's Hospital in Omaha, Ne. Any donations that are made will go straight towards Ashten's medical bills. Thank you for reading this far! Please know that once we are back on our feet we plan to pay it forward to families that go through this nightmare <3
