Seeking Help After Mothers Passing

Hello,

My name is Caitlin, and I’m reaching out during a challenging time for my family. For the past nine months, I was in Mississippi as my mother’s full-time caregiver. She sadly passed away just a few days before Christman, leaving behind not just grief but also unexpected financial challenges.

When our mother’s health declined soundly my father and brother began driving from Colorado to Mississippi, hoping to have a chance to say goodbye. Sadly, she passed while they were still on the way. After her passing, they stayed to help pack her belongs and help me move back to Colorado.

As we began the journey back to Colorado with my mother’s belongings, we encountered significant setbacks. My brother’s truck broke down in a small town in Mississippi while towing a U-Haul trailer containing her estate. We had to rent a U-Haul box truck for an additional $937, with no refund for the $450 trailer we initially rented.

To make matters more complicated, my brother now needs to fly back to Mississippi to retrieve his car and drive it back to Colorado, which will keep him out of work. Additionally, as a self-employed individual, it will take time for me to reestablish my client base and steady income.

We’re seeking to help cover:

Service fees

Her last remaining medical bills (from last Hospital stay)

Household bills during this transition

Travel expenses, including my brother’s return trip to Mississippi and the costs of moving my mother’s belongings.
