A couple weeks ago I found myself in the middle of a CATastrophe! A momma cat had given birth in a flower bed during all the heavy rains we were having in the area. The area was pretty flooded so she didn’t have a place to seek shelter. Her babies had a slim chance of survival. Momma is the SWEETEST cat I have ever encountered and her 5 babies were helpless newborns! Upon discussing with my friend I decided to take them in. The next day we discovered that there was another litter. This litter had not been as lucky… 2 of the babies were victims of raccoons. The 5 remaining babies and their mom were trying to use a family’s patio for shelter. These people wanted them gone. I decided to take the 2nd momma and litter as well. But when we went to collect them the people completely flip flopped and refused to let us take 1 of the babies and the mom. They put the 4 remaining babies in a duffel bag in their front yard and said if you want them take them. The kittens were too young and I have needed to feed them formula and finally weaning into mush. I also had to take them to the vet for eye infections and deworming but they are THRIVING! As for Momma and the 5th baby, I have been fighting for them since. The people have said they are keeping the kitten but don’t care about Momma anymore. I am going to get her and am also getting the 2 dads and everyone is getting vaccinated and fixed! This is an official NO MORE BABIES FUND! The animal population is currently in crisis and this is a way to help make a small impact to not add to it more! Using a non profit vet I will be able to vaccinate and fix all 13 cats.
