My name is Nicholas Brown. I have never done a GoFundMe before and never thought I would be placed in this situation. But today I am in desperate need of help to save my hand. I am asking for your assistance to help me in any way that you can.

Recently, my life was drastically changed in an instant. It was a typical morning and I had just returned home from the gym. After making my protein shake, I decided to clean the blender. As I was rinsing the soap off, it slipped from my hands. In my attempt to save it from falling, one of the shards of thick glass sliced through the middle of my left hand when it shattered in the sink. Blood started gushing everywhere, and I feared for my life once I realized the bleeding was not stopping. Thankfully I was able to locate my phone and call 911. When paramedics arrived, they were still not able to stop the blood so they rushed me to the hospital. Upon arriving, I was immediately rushed into the operating room where they stopped the bleeding and closed my hand. Afterward, I was informed that one severed artery and two severed tendons were found in my hand. I am not able to move my fingers, and they have no sensation.

After consulting with a hand specialist, he informed me I would need reconstructive hand surgery within the next two weeks in order to prevent the permanent loss of function in my left hand. This will require 12 weeks of recovery time as well as 6 months of physical therapy after that. The surgery will cost between $10,000 and $15,000 and I will be unable to work for at least 4 months, but possibly longer. I currently do not know the exact costs for the physical therapy but my main concern right now is saving my hand. I NEED this surgery. I am a freelance writer which as you know requires the use of both of my hands to perform my job. Unfortunately, I do not have medical coverage at this time to cover the surgery and upcoming costs.
