Help Kevin Walk Again: A Young Life Changed Forever On what should have been an ordinary day, 23-year-old Kevin Smith found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time. A dispute over a vape turned violent, and although Kevin was not involved, he became a tragic victim when a bullet fired into the crowd struck him in the back, near his spine. Now, Kevin– a hardworking, athletic, and fun-loving young man – faces the unimaginable reality that he may never walk again. The bullet is lodged in a critical location, and doctors are unable to safely remove it. All they can do is wait and hope it moves to a less dangerous spot, but the prognosis is uncertain. Kevin mother, Bernadette, is devastated. “All we can do is stay hopeful and keep my son in your prayers,” she says. “ Kevin is a good kid. He keeps to himself, working on his music and going to work. He was just at the wrong place at the wrong time.” Now, Kevin needs our support. His road to recovery will be long and costly.
