Living Kidney Donor Expenses

Hello Friends and Family!

My daughter, Resa, is donating a kidney to my son, Jon. Amazingly, they are a highly compatible match!

We have definitely seen God’s hand throughout this whole process. Resa has always felt called to donate a kidney and was attempting to donate to a stranger one year prior to her brother getting sick. However, her husband, Sam, talked her into waiting, just in case a family member needed one. When Jon was found to be in kidney failure last year, needing dialysis 3 times weekly, Resa immediately stepped up to donate, as anyone would.

Jon’s insurance pays for all medical expenses, but Resa will have to take at least 6 weeks off work from her job as an Emergency Department RN for recovery. Sam will also be taking time off to drive her to and from St. Louis for the surgery and to care for her during the first two weeks.

Resa has received a grant from the National Donor Living Assistance Center (NDLAC) for expenses, has some compensation for her lost wages from the state of Colorado, and has already received a generous gift from a close friend. However, there is still a gap. We’re hoping to fundraise for the last bit of expenses and lost wages.

Thankfully, Jon’s medical expenses and lost wages should all be covered!
