Leigh passed away on March 20, 2016. A few years ago, Leigh found out she had cancer. She has been battling cancer with Bill at her side. A private person, Leigh only recently started sharing her struggle with others.
Leigh had undergone chemotherapy and many procedures in her fight against the cancer. In June of 2015, a tumor on her spine left her wheel chair bound. While she still had feeling in her legs, she was unable to walk.
A few days ago Leigh underwent a procedure on her liver. During the days following the procedure, Leigh's health declined. Leigh was moved to hospice on March 19th and died on March 20th.
You may know Leigh from the many years she spent as a dedicated band director in Georgia. A two time graduate of the University of Georgia (bachelors and masters) and member of the Redcoat band, Leigh worked daily to ensure her students hand a quality music education. More important than their music education, Leigh helped shape the students into great people. She was dedicated to her band students. Tough as nails, Leigh believed in hard work and high standards. She expected a lot but she also gave a lot. Leigh also has the biggest heart!
Leigh's love for horses wasn't a secret. She was a horse woman through and through. When Leigh left her first career as a band director she made her love of horses her second career. Leigh and her husband Bill launched Brock Farms and Shamrock Enterprise Tack and enjoyed their new lifestyle.
As you can imagine, the income of two retired educators is limited. Leigh's medical expenses added up during the last part of her life. Any amount will help and is appreciated.
