Callums Top Surgery

Heya!!

My name is Callum (he/him, trans FTM), I’m 19 years old and based in the UK. Due to long waiting lists here, I am unable to medically transition right now without going through a private practice - which costs quite a lot. I first thought I should start a small business which I keep having ideas for, but having a crowfunder would help a lot.

General costs in the UK for top surgery are usually more than 10k at the moment, from the research I have done. I don’t expect this fund to reach this and I’m so grateful for friends and family pushing me to set a fundraiser for my top surgery.

I was always set on not making one and making sure I earn it myself. But I’m not coping well with binding at the moment for a number of reasons. At the end of the day I should be enjoying myself and the things I’m interested in career wise involve quite a lot of strenuous activity, exercise and I need a good amount of lung capacity.

In the past few months I’ve been working on my singing and dance through a variety of classes and courses - this is what I want to do. Specifically with dancing, binding hurts quite a lot at times, it’s quite restrictive and I really shouldn’t be binding, but I am stealth in these spaces. I’ve been binding for 4 years now, I’ve tried other alternatives like trans tape but I am not a big fan as my skin is sensitive.

I’ve struggled with my mental health since early teenage years and that led me to not finish high school education, it’s been hard trying to find an educational setting that suits me, but I’ve found my pathway and I’ve never stuck with anything this long, I’d hate for everything to stop again because of dysphoria or injury.

So if there’s people out there that can help, it’s crucial that I take it. I just would like to live as me and make sure I have a steady base to begin my early adulthood so I have a chance to see a future for myself.
