Indie Devs vs Publisher Abuse – We Need Your Help
Donation protected
We’re Cyberspline Games—a small indie team that spent years building a VR rhythm game called BoomBox, shaped by our community, powered by music, and made with nothing but love, grit, and creative freedom.
We listened to player feedback and built the game around it. We partnered with indie musicians to showcase their tracks through in-game custom maps—reimagining how music and games can grow together. We developed Twitch chat integration, modding tools, multiplayer competitions, and community features to make something meaningful and lasting.
Meanwhile, our publisher, Alterside, did nothing except breach every single point of the publishing agreement.
For two years, they never made a trailer, never posted on social media, never ran a single discount. Every promotion, post, update, and community event came from us. And yet—they’re the ones profiting from our work today.
Then they locked us out.
They kicked us off the Meta developer portal, stopped paying us our revenue in August 2024, and started calling themselves the developers. In the past six months, we haven’t seen a penny, yet we’ve continued supporting the servers so our community can enjoy the game. Alterside rebranded BoomBox on Meta without our consent, presented themselves to Meta as the devs, and completely ignored our presence—while continuing to sell the game.
When we reported this to Meta, hoping for support, they didn’t help. Instead, they forwarded our private report directly to Alterside—the very people who took our game.
We've tried to solve this quietly. We've asked to end the contract many times. Instead, we’ve been ignored, threatened with lawsuits, and mocked for trusting a publisher.
So now, we’re speaking out—and yes, we know they’ll come after us for it. But we won’t stay silent.
This campaign is to help cover legal fees and keep our studio alive while we fight for what’s rightfully ours. We’re not just doing this for ourselves—we’re doing it for every indie dev who's been taken advantage of and told to shut up.
If you’ve ever loved an indie game, supported a small team, or believed in fair creative work—please help us take a stand.
Every dollar helps us fight back. Every share gives us a voice.
Thank you for standing with us.
