Hi my name is Launa Cave (nee Gilkes) and I am fundraising for my uncle Feliston.
Feliston Gilkes, 56, of Porey Spring, St. Thomas, Barbados came to Canada in August 2023 to visit his sister, Nita Gilkes-Rock who had recently lost her husband to COVID and was suffering from ‘long covid’ herself.
While vacationing there, Feliston got very sick and was rushed to the hospital. After a series of tests, he was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. Due to the seriousness of the situation, the doctor recommended immediate treatment.
Feliston has since received the first dose of chemo but because of complications, he remains hospitalized.
He is the Acting Inspector of the Barbados Police Service and worked up to the time he came over to Canada. He has a wife and two sons, aged 23 and 19. He is a graduate of Roebuck Secondary School, class of 1984.
Since Feliston is not a resident of Canada, the hospital fees are more than double the cost that a resident without health coverage would have to pay. As a result, the fees far exceed the ability of Feliston and his family to pay. This fund has been created to assist with the continually rising hospital costs for Feliston’s treatment.
Thank you for your continuous prayers, support and generous donations.
