Jeff has always been an active, caring and supportive person to all that know him. Recently, however, he has been diagnosed with end stage liver disease and is in need of a liver transplant to survive. Within the last year we have been following physicians orders with medications, diet and lifestyle changes in hopes of improving his health. Unfortunately, within the last 2 months his health journey rapidly progressed, with some alarming symptoms, thru stages 3 and 4 to end stage. Currently, his only recourse - a life saving liver transplant.

Our mission - to work diligently with the transplant program at UNMC here in Omaha to find a liver donor and give him a second chance at life. A transplant would offer Jeff the freedom and ability to live a longer, healthier, more normal life.

Our tireless research has shown that the success/survival rate for those receiving a transplant from a LIVING donor is much greater. Therefore, we remain hopeful that our active search will bring the miracle he needs.

During the transplant evaluation process 3 of the departments we met with included: Financial Counselor

Pharmaceutical Financial Counselor &

Social Services.

These depts helped us identify exactly what monetary impact this will have. Encouraging fundraising efforts on our part early on in the process. As if all the other medical information wasn't overwhelming enough, we came to realize additional costs were going to be significant. Even with good health insurance associated expenses will include but are not limited to:

- Hospital, clinic & prescription

Co-pays (10-20%)

- Household Exp due to time off from work for both patient and caregiver (4-8weeks)

Current estimated costs:

- 3 day Transplant Evaluation Stay

(completed and bills already submitted to ins)

$20K - 30K

- Transplant Surgery/Hospitalization

and Post Care (future) $600K - 750K

- Prescription Co-Pays (lifelong) $100-$200/mo

We are currently looking into local fundraising options but wanted to open up an option for those who wished to help. In our quest for the miracle of a liver donor we realize that we cannot accomplish this journey without help. Therefore we offer an opportunity for others to be one of many 'heros' in his story.
