Help Our Cat: Muffin Needs Care
Donation protected
My wife and I are posting this as an act of desperation because we're not sure where else to turn at this point. We are seeking $6,000 in pursuit of a necessary surgery to remove a cluster of bladder stones from the inside of our cat Muffin's bladder. This was the high end estimate given to us for this surgical procedure and if the cost ultimately undertaken is lower, the remainder of the amount we are seeking would be put towards cardiology and other accrued vet bills. All of the money raised will go exclusively to the vet care bills we are facing in our pursuit of Muffin's health. If we are able to raise funds towards his care I will be sharing regular updates in regards to his current health and what he's being faced with.
This Sunday, October 27th, at 2 AM our little furry boy Muffin began yowling in pain and pacing in obvious distress, making attempts to use his litter box to no avail and hiding in various places. His primary vet is only briefly open on Sundays, so we took him to an emergency vet as soon as we could that morning to try to get what we assumed was simply constipation taken care of, but we quickly learned it was a bladder stone blocking his ability to urinate. We were able to afford having Muffin hospitalized and were able to get his blockage successfully removed. Unfortunately we were hit with one piece of bad news after another during this time, as we were told that not only did X-rays reveal that his bladder is full of more stones of the same sort, but he has heart complications requiring him to urgently see a cardiologist. We currently have our poor once-feral boy hospitalized in order to have him monitored and seen by the cardiologist on Wednesday, but we cannot surmount the cost of the necessary surgery to clear his bladder of the stones that could cause another urinary blockage.
We are still grieving the loss of one of our other fuzzy little boys who passed to an aggressive skin cancer and we largely tanked our savings trying to provide him with care that we thought would help him survive. We are already several thousands of dollars into paying for Muffin's treatment and though we have been supported wonderfully in this matter by a very generous family member, we are falling short of being able to give Muffin the life saving care he needs. We are already cutting costs as hard as we can with the vet, avoiding what may be helpful diagnostics so that we can maybe afford to provide more care for him, but we are reaching the end of our rope. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, Muffin is our grumpy-faced little angel and a piece of my wife's own heart. Losing him to the burden of financial costs when we are told he has a good prognosis, especially after putting so much into his care would be crushing. Absolutely any donations or sharing of this fundraiser would be appreciated more than I can properly put into words.
