Bella Rose's Fight to Recovery

Bella Ann Rose came into this world fighting for her life on 5/26/13!! With a Face Presentation Birth; Bella's airways in her lungs took on fluids. She was transferred to Albany Medical NICU, where she received outstanding care and was discharged after 5 days. Bella didn't let this hold her back, she has absolutely thrived in her little life!! She has put her eventful birth behind her and there was no turning back; you'd never know what she had been through during her first days of life! She brings joy to her family not only because she's the Baby & the only Girl!!! But because she is so happy, silly, smart, spontaneous & not afraid to explore her world. She fills the room with her belly-bursting laugh. She loves to play ball with her Brother's, ride her bike and try on lots and lots of shoes!!! Bella loves reading books, playing with balloons and catching lightning bugs. Bella loves to dance and sing, hop and jump.
Our Beautiful, Bouncing Baby Girl's life has came to a screeching halt on Sunday July 5th 2015:
Our Family was preparing to ride horses, two out of the three horses were being removed from the pasture. Bella's Aunt had two of them, her Grandfather was closing the gate next to the third horse. Bella was about 50 feet from Me (her Mom) in-between the two locations of the horses. I was asking Bella to come to me and Bella was being a stubborn 2-year-old and refusing. I counted to 3...in a split second the horse in the pasture ran through the fence and directly in Bella's path; Running over her striking her in the head with his hoof. Bella's body did a somersault flying through the air and landing on the opposite side of her body. Bella was rushed to Albany Medical Center via Med-Flight. Bella remains in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
Bella suffers from Diffuse Axonal Injury, fracture behind right ear, bruised lungs, intermittent strider.
Once Bella is medically cleared she will be looking at 2-5 weeks inpatient at a pediatric traumatic brain injury rehabilitative center followed by about 6 months of outpatient rehab.
Bella's road to recovery has already consisted of ups and downs. Decisions we are faced to make are very difficult. Having two boys at home and understanding their needs are important tears your heart in two when you can not image leaving Bella's bedside.
Bella shows us baby steps on a daily basis; proving that she is a fighter and she is coming back to us! Bella woke up after seven days. Bella has smiled, reached to be picked up, holds her head up, follows commands, gives fist pumps & high fives...Each and every day Bella will fight for recovery!! This little Girl has been fighting since her first day of life; she's not done yet!!
We are overwhelmed with the support, kinds words, generosity and just outpouring prayers we've received for our Sweet Bella.
Thank you ENDLESSLY!!
