Hi all, this is Elise posting on behalf of my husband Sam.
We have had a lot of people reaching out and asking if there is anything they can do to help after my car accident (see info below if you haven't seen our earlier post), we would never usually ask, or even accept financial help, but due to the strenuous and sudden change in circumstances we are realising that any help offered will make a really huge difference.
We have not yet been assessed by KIA and so we likely won't be approved for a hire car until mid next week at the earliest.
Having relocated to Adelaide at the begining of December last year, we don't know anyone here; it was the best decision for our family and for Sam's career, but now we have no friends or family nearby to even take care of the children while we make a quick trip in an uber to collecting Sam's medications, get groceries etc.
We are looking at an interesting time ahead, what with getting Sam to the hospital for his check ups and surgeries as well as any other costs we haven't yet thought of. we are definitely going to be looking at a strain on the budget.
Please don't feel the need to offer anything if it's not within your capabilities, we would usually never even consider asking, but due to the offers we have received we thought this is the best way for people to lend a hand if they so wish.
Once again, please only help out if you are 100% comfortable and it won't put you out at all. We appreciate you all, your prayers and kind words.
More information about the incident and Sam's injuries:
On Wednesday afternoon he was in a serious car accident. 3 minutes into his trip home, our car's driver assist mode malfunctioned, veering him into oncoming traffic. He was flung to his left, missing all deployed air bags and when the car hit a concrete pole his face received the full force of the impact on the centre dashboard.
Sam was promptly rushed to the hospital in an ambulance and advised that this crash could easily have been fatal. We are lucky to have him home with us already, although he sustained some serious injuries. His left eyesocket is fractured, and his left cheekbone is shattered. His left eye is currently entirely blind and the pupil is non responsive. He could end up permanently blind in that eye, the best case scenario would be that he regains 80% of his eyesight in that eye after an unknown amount of surgeries are performed. We will know more when the swelling goes down and they can reassess the damage.
Your prayers for Sam at this time would be very much appreciated, please pray that he heals quickly and without any issues, and that any potential surgeries go ahead and make a huge impact on his healing.
