Denis Anderson, also known as ‘Big D’, has devoted his life to helping others with his kind and compassionate heart especially to his beloved parramatta eels, if you speak to anyone that know him they’ll have nothing but praiseful words for the great man.
Just over 12 months ago Denis was working at the parramatta eels junior representative games (as he has done for over 40 years) on this occasion against the bulldogs at Belmore Oval where his grand daughter Shae was also playing, when the family arrived they noticed Denis was faint and wasn’t feeling well in his van. His daughter Michelle then took him to Ryde hospital where they ran tests and he was then diagnosed with cancer. Throughout his battle he has always remained positive, strong and still trying to help others in every way he could, including participating in clinical trials to try and benefit the future generations. Unfortunately these trials failed and the last trial he participated in has made him gravely ill.
Denis is now back in the family home with his wife Lorraine, daughter Michelle, son in-law John, granddaughters Kiah and Shae, and great grandson Beau. To help Denis and his family adjust to these sudden changes to their lives it would be greatly appreciated if funds could be donated to go towards things of support and necessities
such as:
- A wheel chair of Denis’ choice to buy as the family’s currently hiring a basic one.
- A new hospital bed for his bedroom at home.
- Renovations and adjustments to the family home, wheel chair access, ramps and rails, etc.
- A home nurse to come out to the house a few times a week to shower Denis etc. As the nurse organised by the hospital had to cancel as they don’t do home care in our area.
- Funds to make him as comfortable as possible and to sight see and do things he enjoys in his time here.
