Mary Beth Brake VanderSluis Hospice & Medical Care
Mary Beth (Brake) VanderSluis and her family is in need of prayers, support & financial assistance.
Mary Beth is a selfless, fun-loving, kind, witty, & generous person. She has a beautiful personality and would give you the shirt off of her back. She never complained about anything and accepted her Type 1 Diabetes diagnosis with such grace.
Mary Beth has been a Type 1 Diabetic all her life. During the last five years, her health has become a constant battle from hospital visits, rehab centers, and even nursing homes to manage health issues related to her Diabetes. This past year has been incredibly exhausting, painful, & challenging for her and her family. Mary Beth has had several heart attacks, strokes, kidney failure, and other health issues. She has not been home but for a few weeks this past year. The doctors refer to her as a “Brittle” diabetic. All of this has taken a toll on her body over the years. She needs 24-hour care and is totally bedridden. Due to Covid restrictions in MN, we had to figure out a way to get her family together and honor Mary Beth’s health directive of having her family around her during this difficult time. In order to grant that wish for her she needs to enter a Residential Hospice House. She has a husband Brad, a daughter Ashley, son-in-law Jake, two beautiful granddaughters (ages 8 months-Isla & 3 years old-Mila), and siblings (Cindy, Kris, & Rick) that need to spend time with her. The Pillars Hospice House in Oakdale, MN could make that happen and she was transferred from Abbott Northwestern Hospital on July 8th. She celebrated her 63rd birthday on July 14 with her family. While much of the medical costs are covered by insurance, there are a lot of out-of-pocket costs and the room and board at the hospice house that are not covered.
She is in God’s hands now and we are extremely grateful for any financial support and prayers you have to lighten the burden for her family.
We have created this GoFundMe because behind her positive attitude and beautiful smile, it hasn’t been easy dealing with the stress and financial burdens.
Whatever amount you can give would be a Godsend and will go directly to her care.
God Bless and Thank you.
