Mason's Battle
Donation protected
If you know Mason, you know that he is a kind, funny, energetic athlete and an awesome friend. He loves to play hockey and is an avid Edmonton Oilers and Connor McDavid fan. Mason also has a green belt in Karate and was instrumental in bringing home the championship trophy with his baseball team last season.
If you know Mason’s family, you know that his great grandparents, Trish and Jim, are the most wonderful, caring, nurturing people imaginable. They took Mason in at a young age and they work tirelessly to give this boy the life he deserves. You’ll find them at every parent-teacher conference, every sports event, and every friend’s birthday party. Speaking of birthdays, Mason recently celebrated his 8th birthday with all of his friends and family just days before receiving devastating news.
On April 7th, 2025, a tumour was discovered in Mason’s brain. Surgery was performed and the family is now facing a cancer diagnosis with 8 months of chemotherapy ahead of them. Mason is being treated at Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) for a Grade 3 Choroid Plexus Carcinoma with a mutation in the TP53 gene. Though his prognosis is not ideal, Mason was running around with his friends only ten days post surgery and has proven that he is a warrior who can handle this fight.
Trish and Jim hate to ask for any help, therefore friends and family are asking for them. Any donation would be greatly appreciated to help offset the financial burden associated with Mason’s battle. If there are leftover funds, they will go towards the hospital and/or cancer research.
Thank you and we will update along the way as much as we can.
