Jennifer Leaming Lyons

May 8, 1975- January 7, 2022

Did you know that Jen was what some may call a minimalist - she appreciated objects with meaning but more so experiences over things. This was Jen’s guiding principle as a parent. Raising teenagers can pose a lot of challenges to the concept of minimalization- teenagers need lots of food, are seemingly constantly growing out of clothes & shoes, have activity and entertainment fees to keep them engaged, the list could go on.

As you may know by now, after 7 weeks of at-home hospice care where Jen was tenderly cared for by family, she was transported to a PENN inpatient hospice facility.  Jen had been hanging on at home reminiscing, imparting her wisdom, leaving nothing unsaid, and making sure her loved ones knew she was accepting this was her time. 

Jen had always said she did not want to die at home.  When the decision was made to transfer her, Jen verbalized it was a beautiful idea. She wanted home to be a place of comfort and good memories, not a place to mark her leaving her boys. 

After hugging her boys goodbye with her mom by her side, Jen was transported at 3 pm on Thursday evening.  The nurse's made her comfortable and after only a few hours, Jen closed her eyes and peacefully passed away in her sleep, just as she had wished. 

In honor of Jen, we are collecting personal donations that will be deposited into an account to support the boys’ short and long-term needs.  These funds will be used to make sure her boy's lifestyle is maintained as normally as possible after experiencing such a tragic loss. Expenses will include food, fees for sports/camps, travel, education, etc.
