Ryan’s Hope

UPDATE:

Hi all, first of thank you so much for your support thus far in Ryan's journey. The family has been touched by each and every single donation and prayers that have been given. I wanted to take a moment and update you all on Ryan's progress. While he still has a very LONG road ahead, this is a bit of a PRAISE report and we are so so so thankful!!!!

Ryan is now off of the ventilator and he has a trach with a voice plug. He is communicating with the family by nodding his head, giving thumbs up, smiling, and even trying to talk. If you know Ryan that will make you laugh as he has always been a talker. He has been standing up with assistance from the physical therapist and he has even taken a step.

He got to hear his son and daughters voices on the phone and gave us a big smile. The doctors and nurses in the trauma unit are amazed daily at his progress. He still has a very long way to go but we are encouraged by the strides he is making in his recovery. He has a scheduled facial reconstructive surgery scheduled today, November 5th and if that goes well he is potentially moving to a rehabilitation center after that.

We are wanting to send him to the best rehabilitation center we can find because that is so important in the recovery process. We all know that Ryan is a fighter and now he is fighting the fight of his life. The hospital bills are starting to arrive with rehabilitation just around the corner. If you would like to support the family please consider making a contribution no matter how big or small. Please continue to lift Ryan up and keep his family in your prayers.

October 13th is the day our world stood still. Ryan Cheek was critically injured in a single car accident when he over corrected and hit a tree. He was found non-responsive and was rushed to the Vanderbilt trauma unit where he underwent an emergency craniotomy due to a massive brain bleed. Ryan is currently in critical condition on a ventilator with multiple facial and skull fractures.

Ryan is only 32 years old and he is self-employed. He is a father and family man. Ryan has a four year old son and recently connected with his nine year old daughter. Ryan is a very hard worker and he is passionate about his family, friends, and his music.

His family has learned he will be in the trauma unit for at least four weeks and he has a long and uncertain road to recovery ahead.

Ryan is the type of person who goes out of his way to help others and would give someone the shirt off his back. Please consider helping Ryan Cheek’s family with a contribution to his mounting medical expenses and recovery fund. If you are unable to donate the family asks that you please lift Ryan up in prayers. Please share Ryan’s story.
