This is a little story of a healthy 31 year old single mother of 2 and how their lives changed with just a simple self exam.  This is Gina Hildebrand and she has Breast Cancer.  In April 2015 Gina found 2 lumps in her right breast, praying it was nothing she waited for it to   go away, but it didn't.  On June 12th she had her 1st mammogram which showed 2 masses in her right breast. They did an ultrasound and found that the masses were tumors.  Her life will forever be changed in the following weeks. The local Hospital said she couldn't be seen untill July 6th, this was unacceptable to her and she made a trip to Columbus to see a Doctor on Monday June 22nd,Her Doctor looked at all the screenings and did an exam and stated she was worried about what she saw on the mammogram and got Gina in for a Biopsy that same day.  Tuesday June 23rd, Gina had taken time off work due to the Biopsy and just the stress of all this. She was sitting on her couch when her phone rang.  It was her Doctor in Columbus with the results. Its Breast Cancer, both masses her Doctor said. Gina's fight had begun. Friday June 26th She had to travel back to Columbus but this time she took loved ones with her to help her make life changing decisions. Gina  had a double mastectomy on July 16th at Grant Hospital in Columbus Ohio. After she is healed  she will have to start Chemo for one year and take estrogen blockers for 10 years.  Before this Gina was a healthy full time working mother of 2. Life was falling into place with love,family and work. Now shes in the fight of her life.She now has to be on disability leave from work and getting only 60% of her pay, which she is grateful to have such coverage, but her medical bills will be adding up, along with the travel cost to Columbus weekly for treatments.
