Help Save My Son
Donation protected
Our son, brother, nephew, and friend, Nyan needs help to regain his life. Nyan has been homeless and living on the streets of Las Vegas for the past 6 years, and currently suffers from mental health issues and addiction.
Nyan got into some trouble when he was 12 years old and was required, by the state of Colorado, to spend time in a “boys home”. After he was sent there in 1992, his life was altered forever. Not because his crime was not real, but because the State of Colorado placed him in a group home run by a pedophile. Because of the trauma experienced at this group home, many of the boys, including Nyan have lived a life filled with shame and suffer from addiction.
We had the opportunity to spend time with Nyan and met many people from his Las Vegas homeless community this past March. Individual after individual approached us and told stories about how he has helped them while they navigated life on the streets. They shared story after story about Nyan carrying items long distances for others, protecting women, and freely sharing his possessions. One thing became remarkably clear- the spirit of our kind-hearted, beautiful souled son and brother was as present as ever. We spent time connecting as a family and Nyan has agreed to discuss different options for help.
We are trying to obtain funds to help Nyan enter rehab, relocate to be close to family, and help him regain his life. We are committed to helping him receive the assistance he needs, both physically and emotionally so he can thrive again. We are also looking to help Nyan’s larger homeless community in Las Vegas. We will be providing at least 50 backpacks filled with everyday essentials along with art supplies. What we see possible by providing this community with art supplies is they will have an alternative option to express themselves.
We are looking to fill each backpack with a minimum of the following:
*Colored Pencils
*Pencil Sharpener
*Sketchpad
*Shampoo/Conditioner
*Bar of Soap
*Deodorant
*Toothbrush & Paste
*Chapstick
To save Nyan’s life and to bring some light to his larger community, we need your help. Residential rehab programs cost upwards of $25,000 for treatment. Additional housing, medical care and therapy will add many more thousands of dollars. Despite the cost, we have the opportunity to help save his life. This sends a message to other survivors of “the boy’s home” that there is hope and we have not forgotten them. As a community, we want to stand together and show the world that childhood trauma does not have to ruin your life.
Please donate to our cause to bring Nyan home and to help his community have a voice through art.
