Grayson was born in November 2015 with 2 holes in his heart. His mom and dad were told they had to wait for Grayson to grow big enough for the holes to close on their own or him to be big and strong enough for surgery. He had to go to the doctor for echocardiograms every month, and see his pediatrican regularly all the while waiting and hoping for a miracle. The medical bills quickly mounted just waiting for Grayson to grow. He has been on special formula to help him grow since he was born.
In March, the prognosis was no better, and Grayson had open heart surgery to close the two holes. It was a long day, and he pulled through the open heart surgery and his recovery went well. He is doing better, however, the parents are straddled with mounting medical bills.
The dire problem was solved with the closure of the holes. However, now he is facing more heart troubles. His cardiologist will be monitoring him for the next few years to make sure the pulmonary artery can handle the increased blood flow. He may face further surgeries in the years to come.
Grayson's mom, Copper is an incredible teacher who has made a difference in hundreds of lives over her teaching career, This is not a high paying profession, but is a highly rewarding one. She also has continued to work weekends at a second job to help with their never ending office copays. Hopefully the community will now make a difference in the life of her son by helping ease the burden of these medical bills.
Grayson's dad, Geno works long hours to provide for his family, however one is never prepared for astronomical medical bills, which were assumed to be behind them.
When faced with a decision, a short life or a highly successful surgery, it is a no brainer. No one would willingly sign up for a lifetime of debt, but when it comes to saving the life of your child there is nothing a parent would not do.
Geno, Copper and Grayson would be forever grateful for any financial assistance, big or small anyone can provide.
