Lebanese Revolution Hunger Relief - For Lebanon

Lebanon is in the midst of a revolution. People are storming the streets and protesting against corruption from our government officials and political group leaders. December 5th marks the 50th consecutive day of protesting and demanding to replace our current leadership. The government refuses to listen, or even help them, and they continue to make the situation worse.

United Lebanese Movement is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping the Lebanese. We will help them stay strong, positive, and most importantly, united during as well as after the revolution. Our group works domestically in Lebanon, and internationally through our Lebanese community around the world. While we work to resolve our short-term problems, we are also working on larger scale programs for the future of our Lebanese people.

Our goal is to spread the love, build awareness, and raise money for food, diapers, and other miscellaneous necessities. In the coming months, Lebanon will be experiencing a heavy shortage of food and other basic necessities. Not to mention, the harsh winter season is well underway. We believe that it is our duty, as Lebanese expats and as people in general to help our Lebanese brothers and sisters survive these tough times.

We have far too many Lebanese people out of work, who cannot afford to support their families.  We have so many people protesting on and off the streets. We have some students who are still going to universities and won’t have a job after they graduate. We have people who can’t afford to pay for gas, in order to go anywhere. The situation is only getting worse and we are dedicated to making things as easy as possible for everyone in need. With your help, we will provide to as many Lebanese families as possible these next few months.

Breakdown of Purchases Using Your Funding:

Rice - 50,000 KG x $0.385 = $19,250

Flour – 20,000 KG x $1.0 = $20,000

Milk – 1,000 KG x $9.00 = $9,000

Skimmed Milk Powder – 2,000 KG x $3,900 = $7,830

Diapers – 180,000 pieces x $0.08 = $14,400

Shipping & Handling - ~$10,000


Families Helped Over a Two-Week Period:

~22,000 families will have rice

~7,000 families will have flour

~1,428 families will have milk

~6,670 families will have milk for their babies

~357 families will have baby food

~642 families will have baby diapers


1st Goal

If we meet our initial goal of $35,000, we will be able to purchase 50,000 KG of rice, and 1,000 KG of powdered milk.

2nd Goal

If we meet our second goal of $80,480, we will be able to purchase additional products for those in need. We will import 2,000 KG of skimmed milk powder (for babies), wheat flour 20,000 KG, and 180,000 baby diapers.

Recipient and Beneficiaries

1) Since we need to have a US banking account, I (Omar Masri) will be the recipient of the Go Fund Me campaign. 
2) I will purchase all the goods listed above from Chinese suppliers, and will export them from China into Lebanon using the name of our partners in Lebanon. Therefore, the money received goes to pay for the goods purchased, which then will be shipped on containers to Lebanon.
3) The lead-time and shipping is approximately 45 days to arrive in Lebanon
4) Once our partners receive the containers, they will begin separating food and preparing them to be distributed throughout the cities we listed.

Urgency

We are in desperate need of this funding in the soonest time-frame possible in order to pay for the goods, and ship them even sooner. A lot of families are in need and are not receiving any help from anyone. It is a very scary time and we need to act fast, so we can help families in Lebanon faster.

Distribution Plan

Our courageous partners at the Castle of Giving (قلعة العطاء) and Horras El Madineh (حراس-المدينة) will be beneficiaries of the items we purchase and will assist in distributing the items throughout the cities. If we succeed, we will be importing multiple 40ft containers into Lebanon and we will distribute an appropriate amount for each individual and each family. Our team members will use trucks to transport and distribute these items. We will have items pre-packaged, so it is easy to provide the appropriate quantity to each person and each family. Every dollar helps, and the more donations we receive, the more we can provide to those in need. Help our revolution stay alive.
